Drainage Services - Brisbane & Redlands

Poor drainage causes some of the most expensive damage a property can suffer: pooling water, waterlogged gardens, and water finding its way where it shouldn't. Copperflow Plumbing designs and installs drainage systems for homes and properties across Brisbane and the Redlands, from new stormwater connections to subsoil drains around retaining walls, so water is directed away from your property properly the first time.

Drainage vs Blocked Drains

Drainage installation is different from clearing a blockage. If water is backing up in an existing pipe, that's a blockage, see our Blocked Drains page. Drainage work is about designing and installing the system in the first place: making sure water has somewhere proper to go, at the right fall, connected to the right point, so blockages and pooling don't happen down the track.

New builds and renovations

New drainage needs to be installed correctly from the start, tied into stormwater at the right levels and compliant with AS/NZS 3500.3. Getting this wrong is expensive to fix once concrete and landscaping are in.

Retaining walls and landscaping

Retaining walls need subsoil drainage behind them or they hold water and eventually fail. We install ag pipe and gravel drainage as part of retaining wall and landscaping projects, including alongside our renovation work.

Signs You Have a Drainage Problem

  • Water pooling on your lawn or garden after rain
  • Damp patches near retaining walls or along fence lines
  • Water pooling against the house foundations
  • Soggy ground that never seems to dry out
  • Downpipes discharging onto the ground instead of into stormwater

Left alone, poor drainage can undermine foundations, retaining walls, and paths over time. If you're seeing any of these signs, it's worth having it assessed before it becomes a structural issue.

Why Choose Copperflow

Drainage work only holds up if the fall, pipe sizing, and connection points are right from day one. David designs and installs drainage systems to AS/NZS 3500.3, with the same attention to detail he brings to every job. We'll walk your property, explain what's causing the problem, and give you a straight quote before any digging starts.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between drainage and a blocked drain?

A blocked drain is an existing pipe that's no longer flowing properly, usually from tree roots, grease, or debris, see our Blocked Drains page for that. Drainage work is about installing or upgrading the system itself, new pipes, new connections, and proper fall, so water has somewhere to go in the first place.

Do I need drainage around a new retaining wall?

In almost all cases, yes. Retaining walls need subsoil (agricultural) drainage behind them to relieve water pressure. Without it, water builds up behind the wall and can cause it to lean, crack, or fail over time.

My garden stays waterlogged after rain, what can be done?

This usually means the ground isn't draining or shedding water properly. A French drain or subsoil drainage line, directed to a proper discharge point, is often the fix. We'll assess your yard's fall and soil before recommending a solution.

Can you connect my downpipes to stormwater?

Yes. If your downpipes are currently discharging onto the ground or a driveway, we can run proper stormwater connections so water is directed away from your home instead of pooling near the foundations.

Do I need council approval for new drainage work?

It depends on the scope. Connecting into council stormwater infrastructure typically requires approval, which we can guide you through. Site drainage entirely within your own property boundary is usually more straightforward. We'll let you know what's required when we scope the job.
